ARTICLE 1.300 BOARD OF ALDERMEN



Sec. 1.301Β Election and Terms of Office

(a)Β On the first meeting of the town council following the April 6, 1984 town elections the board of aldermen shall draw lots to determine which two aldermen shall serve a two year term of office along with the duly elected mayor.

(b)Β The remaining aldermen shall serve an initial term of one year and thereafter shall serve two year terms.

Sec. 1.302Β President Pro Tempore

(a)Β At the first meeting of the board of aldermen after each annual town election, the town council shall elect one alderman to serve as president pro tempore for a term of one year. The president pro tempore shall perform the duties of the mayor in the absence of the mayor or in the event the mayor fails, refuses or is unable to act.

(b)Β In the event the mayor and president pro tempore are absent, any four aldermen shall constitute a quorum and they shall elect a presiding officer at the meeting at which the mayor and president pro tempore are absent.
