Animal. Any living creature, including, but not limited to, dogs, cats, cows, horses, birds, fish, mammals, reptiles, fowl and livestock.
Livestock. All types of sheep, goats, fowl, horses or any member of the domesticated equine family, including but not limited to mules, donkeys, ponies, llamas, alpacas and all members of the bovine family, including but not limited to cows, bulls, buffalo and bison.
Dogs. Shall, for the purpose of this chapter, mean and include the male, the female and the desexed dog.
Cats. Shall, for the purpose of this chapter, mean and include the male, the female and the desexed cat.
Fowl. Chickens, ducks, guineas, pigeons, pheasants, peacocks, geese, quail, dove or similar feathered animals except parakeets, parrots or other birds that are customarily retained as common household pets.
At Large. Shall, for the purposes of this chapter, mean any dog or cat not confined to the premises of the owner or within a house or other building or enclosure or restrained on the premises of the owner by a leash sufficiently strong to prevent the dog or cat from escaping and restricting the dog or cat to the premises, or not confined by leash when away from the premises. A dog or cat will be considered to be at large if they are a nuisance to neighbors, chase automobiles, walkers, joggers, bikers, tear into garbage, etc.
Harboring. The act of keeping and caring for an animal or providing a premises to which the animal returns for food, shelter or care for a period of three days or more.
Owner. Any person, firm or corporation having title to any animal, or a person who has, harbors or keeps, or who causes or permits to be harbored or kept, an animal in his care, or who permits an animal to remain on or about his premises.
