The City of Oak Leaf ordinance #9304 requires that all dogs of the age of six (6) months or more, which are kept within the City limits of Oak Leaf must be registered with the City.Β Such registration is valid for one (1) year.Β The owner must provide proof of current rabies vaccination.
Owners who fail to register their pets are committing a Class C misdemeanor, which carries a minimum fine of $100 and a maximum fine of $2,000 per violation.
The cost is $5 in person or $6 by mail for an animal that is spayed or neutered.
For an unaltered animal the cost is $10 in person or $11 by mail.
For animals not registered within 60 days of residency or failure to renew registration within 60 days of renewal date, the fee will increase by an additional $10.
